Tourist attractions in Mumbai


1. Gateway of India

In Apollo Bunder area at South Mumbai, There is a historical monument known as Gateway of India which is 85 ft high. The total cost in building it was 21 lakhs rupees. It was built in 1911 and its construction was finished in 1924.It was inaugurated on 24 December,1924.

2. Afghan Church

Afgan Church

The Afghan Church in South Mumbai also known as Church of St John the Evangelist built by the Britishers in 1838. It was designed by Henry Conbeare and architect by William Butterfield. Money spent in its construction was Rs 5,65,000. It's construction was finished on June 10, 1865. It is made up of basalt and a limestone stones.It's total height is 198 ft.

3. Chowpatty Beach

Chowpatty Beach in Marine Drive in the Girgaum area of Mumbai also known as Girgaum Chaupati. It is famous fro celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi .

4. Haji Ali Mosque

Hali ali mosque

It is both a mosque and dargah, located on coast of Worli in Southern part of Mumbai. It was constructed in 1431 in memory of Sayyed Peer Haji Ali Shah Bukhari. It covers an area of 4,500 square meters and is 85 ft in height.

5. Hutatma Chowk

It was in 1864 and represents the Roman Goddess Flora. Money spent on its construction was Rs. 47,000.

6. Kamala Nehru Park

It is situated in Mumbai's Malabar Hill and covers an area of 4,000 sq. ft

7. Mahalakshmi Temple

Mahalaxhmi temple

It is the famous temple located in Bhulabhai Desai Road, Mumbai. It was built in 1831 by Dhakji Dadaji.

8. Malabar Hill

They are located in southern Mumbai. It is situated at a height of 165 ft.

9. Mani Bhavan

Mani Bhavan

It is situated in Gamdevi,Mumbai. Here Gandhiji perform his political activities in mid of between 1917 and 1934.

10. Nehru Planetarium

It was inaugurated on 3 March 1977 by Smt. Indra Gandhi.

11. Rajabai Tower

Rajbai Tower

It is a clock tower situated in South Mumbai with a height of 280 ft. Its construction was started in 1869 and finished in 1878. total money spent on it was 2 lakhs.

12. Nehru Science Center

It is situated in Worli. It was started in 1977 by Mr. Rajiv Gandhi
